Al Gore has made a living out of scaring the wits out of people. As the most well-known anthropogenic global warming advocate, the former Vice President preaches that the use of fossil fuels will eliminate entire species—perhaps even humans. In his book, An Inconvenient Truth, he writes,

“Global warming, along with the cutting and burning of forests and other critical habitats, is causing the loss of living species at a level comparable to the extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. That event was believed to have been caused by a giant asteroid. This time it is not an asteroid colliding with the Earth and wreaking havoc: it is us.”

Gore has just threatened a calamity akin to a nuclear bomb attack. If such an asteroid really did slam into the earth, it’s thought that the impact would have been thousands of times more powerful than the largest nuclear bomb. The Nobel Laureate is threatening the public with a catastrophe that defies the imagination. Gore is engaging in dangerous speech that could cause an unbalanced mind to go wobbly and do something awful.

And then there is James Hansen, a director at NASA. Hansen is notorious for his reckless, inciting suggestions. In an interview with a counter-culture radio show in San Francisco, he said,

“I tell young people that they had better start to act up. Because they are the ones that will suffer the most. Many of the changes will take time, but we’re setting them in motion now. We’re leaving a situation for our children and grandchildren which is not of their making, but they’re going to suffer because of it.”

And of course, most recently, Keri Norgaard, who teaches at the University of Oregon and is the author of Living in Denial: Climate Change, Emotions and Everyday Life. In her book she compares global warming skepticism to racism, arguing that there is a “cultural resistance” that keeps some people from acknowledging that humans are responsible for global warming. This condition, she claims, “…must be recognized and treated” as an aberrant sociological behavior.

In other words, professor Norgaard believes people like me are mentally ill. I contend she, like her comrades on the left, including Steve Zwick, are losing the battle in the arena of ideas and have turned to scaremongering to try regain relevance. Hopefully their comments will not incite societal panic. After all, it has happened before

In 2010 James Jay Lee executed a dangerous hostage plot inside the headquarters of the Discovery Channel. Armed with what appeared to be pipe bombs and a cheap pistol, Lee claimed to have been “awakened” by Al Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth. Lee regarded humans as the “most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around.” His desire was to force the Discovery Channel to fill its programming schedule with “solutions to save the planet.” Before he was able to harm innocent life, Lee was shot and killed by police.

Lee is not the first eco-freak to go off the deep end. In 2005, four years after 9/11, the FBI declared eco-terrorism to be America’s number one domestic threat.

Of course the most notorious eco-terrorist is Ted Kaczynski—the Unabomber. Over a seventeen year period during the Eighties and Nineties Kaczynski sent out mail bombs, killing three people and wounding twenty-two. He also managed to sneak a bomb onto a 747 passenger jet flying from Chicago to Washington D.C. Fortunately the bomb didn’t go off as planned. Kaczynski’s reign ended in 1996, shortly after he made public his now-infamous manifesto written in his tiny cabin located in the back woods of western Montana. In it he opined, “One of the effects of the intrusion of industrial society has been that over much of the world traditional controls on population have been thrown out of balance. Hence, the population explosion, with all that it implies…No one knows what will happen as a result of ozone depletion, the greenhouse effect and other environmental problems that cannot yet be foreseen.”

And discovered by the FBI in the Unabomber’s hovel? A well-worn copy of Al Gore’s, Earth In The Balance. Kaczynski apparently was quite taken by Gore’s missive. The Unabomber’s copy of Earth In The Balance was dog-eared, underlined, marked and well worn.

The infectious perspective of the environmental movement has slithered into every aspect of American life, including our schools, churches and synagogues, and public policy. An entire generation and more have now been raised in a perpetual pall that declares the earth is doomed because of mankind’s pollution. These same citizens have been duped into believing that America’s experiment with capitalism and free markets has been a complete failure, and the major evidence is climate change. Having been fed a continual diet of junk science and raised with strict environmental regulations, they believe such stratagems to be the norm, and, consequently, they simply accept it without question.

This is why we must be armed with the truth to confront the eco-lies that surround us, and make sure we elect people of good character into office, to repeal a host of legislation designed to replace liberty with eco-tyranny.

Imagine owning a portfolio valued at an unfathomable fortune, and yet you’re bankrupt. Government laws are preventing you from tapping your assets.

There’s no need to envision such a scenario, because as an American, it’s a reality—you’ve been hustled by a federal government beholden to the green agenda.

The feds now own nearly 700 million acres of property; land brimming with natural resources vital to our founding principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The tragedy is our government is purposefully keeping the bulk of those resources—oil, natural gas, minerals, timber and water—out of our reach.

And the government wants to control even more.

Federal land ownership was never the intention of this nation’s founders. Other than land necessary to maintain a limited, central government, the first Continental Congress recognized that such owning land, and the associated natural resources, would offer a government too much power; after all, a tyrannical future regime could decide to withhold those resources from the people. So concerned were they about this issue, that in October 1780, even prior to the ratification of the Articles of Confederation, the Congress adopted a general policy for administering any North American land transferred to the Federal Government:

The lands were to be “disposed of for the common benefit of the United States,” and were to be “settled and formed into distinct republican States, which shall become members of the Federal Union, and shall have the same rights of sovereignty, freedom and independence, as the other States….” Additionally, the lands were to “be granted and settled at such times and under such regulations as shall hereafter be agreed on by the United States in Congress assembled…”

Observe how far we’ve drifted from the original intent of our founders. We now have national parks, forests, wildlife areas, marine sanctuaries, wetlands, refuges, as well as national monuments and landscapes. While many argue the various states would be more appropriate owners of the current federal lands, it’s the latter two—monuments and landscapes—that have become the favorite tools of environmental activists for placing America’s resources off limits for harvest.

The executive branch has been granted the power to declare national monuments via the 1906 Antiquities Act, pushed by President Theodore Roosevelt to preserve Native American dwellings, archeological sites, and oddities of nature such as Devil’s Tower in Wyoming, and the Petrified Forest in Arizona. The Act proclaims,

That the President of the United States is hereby authorized, in his discretion, to declare by public proclamation historic landmarks, historic and prehistoric structures, and other objects of historic or scientific interest that are situated upon the lands owned or controlled by the Government of the United States to be national monuments…

President Bill Clinton abused the Antiquities Act just prior to re-election in 1996. In a major press event staged at the rim of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona (an important swing state that year) Clinton and Vice President Al Gore announced their unilateral executive decision to designate a 1.9 million acre monument in Utah. The instant creation of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument was a major victory for eco-activists, and a great loss to America’s energy portfolio. Portions of area are estimated to contain 62 billion tons of clean-burning, low-sulfur coal, between 3 to 5 billion barrels of oil, and 2 to 4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Members of Utah’s congressional delegation were livid, as they were informed of the decision just shortly before Clinton and Gore boarded Air Force One bound for the publicity stunt.

Over the next four years Clinton and Gore would create over 4 million acres of national monuments, all known for their rich resources.

In 2000, the Clinton administration brazenly stretched the limits of the Antiquity Act further by establishing the National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) at the behest of Department of Interior Secretary Bruce Babbit (a man beloved by environmentalists for his dramatic DOI press events held in front of dams, in which he would brandish a sledgehammer as a part of his self-proclaimed “sledgehammer tour,” encouraging the destruction of America’s dams). The NLCS gave the president the power to deem a simple landscape as “treasured,” thus taking its resources off the books forever. In 2009, liberal majorities in Congress fashioned an official NLCS law, which President Obama eagerly signed. The legislation, part of an omnibus-spending bill, declared 27 million acres of “treasured landscapes.”

Now, as I disclose in Eco-Tyranny, President Obama has been caught in a plan to potentially declare 140-million acres of land treasured. I was one of the first to see a 21-page DOI draft document describing the scheme, which declares the acreage as,

“components of larger landscapes, ecosystems, airsheds, and watersheds. ” Note that all of the said components are purely subjective in nature.

Since these 140-million acres are a myriad of parcels scattered throughout the nation, the DOI plans to “pursue a program of land consolidation to address its checker-boarded land…seek to acquire properties adjacent to its current holdings, if needed to preserve ecosystem integrity, and attempt to divest itself of the scattered and low-value landholdings that it has identified for disposal….”

In other words, the Obama administration draft seeks to sell low-valued federal land, void of natural resources, and purchase more lucrative private property to cobble together a colossal new federal estate, which will not only be off-limits to development of natural resources, but off-limits to you. According to the draft, the proposed treasured landscapes will exist “without the trappings of visitor centers and other man-made improvements…” (a scanned copy of the draft, complete with the markings of an unidentified DOI mastermind, is included in the Appendix of Eco-Tyranny).

In twenty years the U.S. will have 50 million additional residents; in forty years another 50 million will be added to that. In order to maintain our pursuit of happiness we must have the ability to, responsibly, harvest our resources. We the People own over 2.6 trillion barrels of technically recoverable oil, and 2,543 trillion cubic feet of natural gas— enough to run our country independent of OPEC, Canada or Mexico—well into the next century.

And, continuing to look forward, 36 states are currently on the verge of critical water shortages. How will we adequately meet future demands? We need a program to utilize federal lands to create more dams, reservoirs, and coastal desalinization plants, lest we starve our agriculture sector of it’s lifeblood and live with perpetual personal water rationing.

Finally, we need to honestly address our lumber supply, as demand will not diminish in the decades to come. Currently, forest growth in the United States exceeds harvest by 37 percent. Trees grow like corn, only slower; we shouldn’t fear principled harvesting from our national forests.

Rather than cow to the green agenda, we need to demand what is rightfully

During an address this past weekend at Hampshire College, Al Gore took a swipe at “some talk radio hosts” who don’t believe in human-caused global warming. Well, seeing that I:

am the only talk radio guy in the country with a Certification from the American Meteorological Society (I was a former, award-winning TV meteorologist)

am the author of a bestseller, Climategate, in which I pen a damning exposé of Mr. Gore’s life and career

have just released Eco-Tyranny, where I further expose Gore’s un-American missives

utilize the URL DebateMeAlGore.com…

I’m guessing Al might well be talking about me. In fact, World Net Daily felt the same way, and did an excellent story allowing me to fire back at Gore. You can read their article here.

Meantime, below is the pertinent excerpt from Gore’s address, interspersed with my comments.

GORE: “The people of this world are putting 90 million tons of global warming pollution into the earth’s atmosphere every 24 hours; 20% of it will still be there 20K years from now.”

SUSSMAN: Al is of course speaking of carbon dioxide, CO2, and is playing a game of slight-of-hand. CO2 is a variable gas and makes up 38/1000ths of 1 percent of the earth’s atmosphere. Human activity (through the use of fossil fuels) contributes about 2.5 percent of all the CO2 in the atmosphere. CO2 is part of a cycle—just like the water cycle, only slower. Carbon dioxide content has increased rapidly many times within the history and each time this increase has eventually reversed and turned into decrease. In past eras we know it was at least 6 times higher than today.

GORE: “We are told by some that it’s caused by sunspots—that’s not true. We’re told by some it’s caused by volcanoes—that’s not true.”

SUSSMAN: Again, Al is being reckless with his rhetoric. Virtually every solar physicist is convinced variations in the sun’s radiation, evident in events such as sunspots, can, have, and will alter the earth’s atmospheric temperature and climate. As for volcanoes, virtually every geologist acknowledges that massive volcanoes, spewing copious amounts of ash into the upper atmpsphere can–and have–altered the earth’s atmospheric temperature and climate.

GORE: “We’re told by some that it just doesn’t exist and we should ignore the fact that every single national academy of science of every single nation on this earth that has one says that it is true, it is an urgent problem that requires an urgent solution.”

SUSSMAN: For starters, Al should attend an annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society or the American Geological Union. The breakout sessions at these conferences often end up in vigorous debates over these issues—and it’s hardly a small percentage of members who are global warming skeptics.

GORE: “Every single professional scientific society in every field related to earth science and climate science says it is an urgent problem that requires urgent attention and must be addressed. 97 to 98 percent of all the climate scientists most activiely publishing in the world say it is an urgent problem that must be urgently addressed. Now there’s some talk radio show hosts that say it’s not [pause for laughs]. But my point is we must respond.”

SUSSMAN: Ha-ha, Al. The laugh’s on you.

By the way, your 97 to 98 percent calculation is a new one. Last I checked the Oregon Petition alone (which you hate because it’s signees have declared that the anthropogenic global warming theory is false) had 31,000 signees, including 5,812 physicists, 4,822 chemists, 3,805 atmospheric/earth scientists, and 9,029 with Ph.D.’s.

As for the “talk radio hosts” you speak of—allow me to introduce myself. I’m the only talk radio guy in the country who’s also a meteorologist. I also wrote a bestseller, Climategate (in which I rip you to shreds), and the just released, Eco-Tyranny (where I rip you further). The URL leading to my blog is DebateMeAlGore.com.

Glad to meet you, loser.

The EPA is a a government-funded Gestapo operation beholden to destroying property rights, hammering capitalism, and destroying free enterprise. Now, thanks to Senator James Inhofe, we have an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) official named Al Armendariz–on video– providing confirmation.

Sen. Inhofe wrote the cover endorsement to my book, Eco-Tyranny. He has a been a tireless warrior in the battle to save this nation from the radical intentions of the green agenda, and has now presented us with an EPA official, named Al Amendariz, conjuring up his inner Stalin to blast the oil and gas industry.

“[O]il and gas is an enforcement priority, it’s one of seven, so we are going to spend a fair amount of time looking at oil and gas production,” Armendariz says in the video.

The top-ranking EPA official goes on to explain his philosophy of policy enforcement [emphases added]:

I was in a meeting once and I gave an analogy to my staff…the Romans used to conquer little villages in the Mediterranean. They’d go into a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they would crucify them. And then you know that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.

And so you make examples out of people who are in this case not compliant with the law. Find people who are not compliant with the law, and you hit them as hard as you can and you make examples out of them, and there is a deterrent effect there.

And, companies that are smart see that, they don’t want to play that game, and they decide at that point that it’s time to clean up.

He continues:

And, that won’t happen unless you have somebody out there making examples of people. So you go out, you look at an industry, you find people violating the law, you go aggressively after them. And we do have some pretty effective enforcement tools. Compliance can get very high, very, very quickly.

That’s what these companies respond to is both their public image but also financial pressure. So you put some financial pressure on a company, you get other people in that industry to clean up very quickly.

“So, that’s our general philosophy,” he adds.

Since his comments have been exposed, Armendariz has issued a (lame) “I’m sorry” statement. However, would the EPA official have apologized for his contemptuous crucifixion declaration if he had not been caught on tape? Of course not; his statement was made two years ago. Armendariz’ mindset is a perfect representation of eco-tyranny.

The EPA, which was conceived by Executive Order in 1970, has grown to become the Left’s favorite weapon of choice to hammer capitalism, bash free-markets, and dismantle America. As I explain in Eco-Tyranny, the green agenda is sworn to punish any individual, business, or corporation who attempts to garner a profit through the sale of a natural resource. The oil and natural gas industry provides Americans with a product vital to the pursuit of happiness, presents a valuable investment for its shareholders, and directly employs 3.3 million people in the U.S. alone.

The EPA has become an official government-sponsored Gestapo operation, and, as I state in Eco-Tyranny, needs to be dismantled, before they do the same to our country.

A 12-year-old girl has responded with the stunning “I wish we didn’t exist” to questions about how she feels about pollution and humanity’s impact on the earth, according to a new video released by Brian Sussman, author of “Eco-Tyranny: How the Left’s Green Agenda will Dismantle America.”

The response came from a 6th-grade girl identified only as Kalie, from Gault Elementary. Sussman met her during Earth Day events in Santa Cruz, Calif., recently, where he traveled to ask “What is the most serious threat facing mankind?”

“Kalie has been green-washed to the point where she readily admits, ‘Sometimes I wish we didn’t exist,’” Sussman reported.

The conversation started with Sussman’s question, and Kalie responded the most serious threat facing humanity today is simply “human existence.”

“I guess you mean there are too many humans on the planet,” he said.

“Yes.”

“What are they doing to harm this Earth?” he asked.

“They’re polluting all kinds of stuff. And the birds and animals are eating it and they die,” she said.

“How does that make you feel?”

“Kind of like I wish that they didn’t pollute, and that it never happened, and sometimes I wish we didn’t exist,” she said.

Sussman said he asked many people the same question.

“Whether it was the spokesman for the Sierra Club, the person pushing solar panels, the advocates for veganism, or the lady running for mayor, the answer was clear: The carbon footprint created by human beings is dangerously altering the climate, and the earth is on a collision course with doom unless the problem is corrected soon,” he said.

“None of these responses really surprised me, as I heard many similar comments in researching my book, ‘Eco-Tyranny.’”

However, he said there was a difference when he talked with Kalie (you can see Sussman’s interview, by clicking below).

“How many other youngsters like Kalie have been led to believe that the human species should be eliminated?” he wondered.

He cited a statement from U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, which also appears in his book.

Duncan said in a meeting with educators in Washington in 2010, “Right now, in the second decade of the 21st century, preparing our children to be good environmental citizens is some of the most important work any of us can do.”

Sussman asked, “Is Kalie an example of a child on her way to becoming a ‘good environmental citizen?’ Or is this 6th-grader a victim of eco-child abuse? No youngster should be manipulated into thinking that human life is invaluable and so expendable.”

He noted Duncan’s emphasis on the issue.

“Duncan went on to state, ‘Educators have a central role in this. A well-educated citizen knows that we must not act in this generation, in ways that endanger the next. They teach students about how the climate is changing. They explain the science behind climate change and how we can change our daily practices to help save the planet.’”

“Such reckless green rhetoric is becoming more commonplace,” Sussman said. “A story in the London Sunday Times quoted the British government’s ‘green adviser,’ Jonathon Porritt, who says couples raising more than two children are being ‘irresponsible’ by creating an unbearable burden on the environment.”

Sussman said Porritt, who chairs the British Sustainable Development Commission, claims curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming.

“He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population,” said Sussman, citing Poritt’s actual words, “I am unapologetic about asking people to connect up their own responsibility for their total environmental footprint and how they decide to procreate and how many children they think are appropriate.”

“Certainly Al Gore, whose media materials are regularly used in the classroom, would agree with Porritt and Duncan. In his book ‘Earth in the Balance’ he spouts, ‘I have come to believe that we must take bold and unequivocal action: we must make the rescue of the environment the central organizing principle for civilization,’” Sussman said.

“Looks like young Kalie is already headlong in the environmental rescue plan. I hope she is reached by the truth,” he said.

Many are quite concerned about Senate Bill 1813, a massive piece of legislation supposedly devoted to transportation issues. Besides including a provision allowing the IRS the power to revoke passports belonging to those who are delinquent with tax debt in excess of $50,000, it appears that the potential law may be used to measure the size of your carbon footprint each time you get behind the wheel. It’s all because of a vague provision slipped into bill, which has already passed the U.S. Senate, and is likely to be rubber stamped by the House.

Known as the “Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act,” SB 1813 is self-described as, “An Act to reauthorize Federal-aid highway and highway safety construction programs, and for other purposes” (emphasis mine).

The legislation would declare it mandatory for all new cars in the U.S. to be fitted with black box-like data recorders beginning in 2015. Known as “Mandatory Event Data Recorders,” the devices would be capable of monitoring your speed, driving habits, location, and distance traveled. Removal of the device would be a civil offense.

Such data collection technology is actually pretty simple. The Progressive auto insurance company currently offers a similar app as a cost-savings feature. Known as “Snapshot,” the small device is a no-brainer to install and monitors speed, acceleration, braking habits, and miles-driven, to determine the driver’s level of risk, which can translate to lower insurance rates.

The text of Senate Bill 1813 never specifically states why such information needs to be collected by the government, but it does indicate that while the measurements would remain the property of the owner of the vehicle, the government would have the authority to retrieve the data in a number of circumstances, including by court order, and pursuant to an investigation or inspection conducted by the Secretary of Transportation.

Currently, newer vehicles are already equipped powertrain and airbag control modules that, in the event of a crash, area able to provide law enforcement investigators with critical information when piecing together the cause of an accident—so why does the government need to collect additional information?

I suspect that eco-activists are behind this plan and were able to get this subsection attached to the bill, believing that, somewhere down the slippery slope, the Event Data Recorders could be used to monitor a driver’s carbon footprint.

If you think my suspicions are overreaching, think again. For years, the ultra green California legislature has been considering replacing the state’s gas tax ($0.18 per gallon) with a fee for every mile traveled annually by each vehicle. The mileage would be recorded by black boxes similar to those described in Senate Bill 1813. California’s Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Commission have also advocated this pay-per-mile scheme. They’ve even suggested using the tracking data to financially penalize those who choose not to carpool.

And this wouldn’t be the first time the feds have gotten into the carbon footprint measurement business. As I explain in Eco-Tyranny, that’s intention of the federally-mandated Smart Meter which has likely been attached to your home in place of your old fashioned, constantly spinning, electrical meter. Introduced in the Federal Energy Act of 2005, the Smart Meter measures your energy consumption minute-by-minute, and eventually will be connected to a device known as the Home Area Network, or “The HAN” as developers in the Silicon Valley refer to it. The HAN will communicate with every electrical device in your home, including your Energy Star approved appliances. In time, the whole shebang will be hooked up to the coming Smart Grid, and your carbon footprint will be known to the second. Eventually, a scenario like this will occur:

It’s a hot afternoon in July. Your air conditioner is keeping the house cooled to 79 degrees; you’re watching the ballgame on a 50-inch flat screen TV; and you’re doing a load of laundry. A blip on a computer screen alerts an unseen bureaucrat that your home is consuming far too much energy, given demands. Automatically, your thermostat will shift to 84 degrees, the TV will be turned off until evening, and the washer/dryer won’t work again until after dark.

Welcome to Smart technology.

Senate Bill 1813 may well be the latest attempt to employ another component of Big Brother-style eco-tyranny.

Yesterday I took a video crew to the Earth Day Festival in Santa Cruz, California. I chose this location because this city is known for being a model of greenness, and even maintains Department of Climate Change, complete with a director making $250,000 per year.

The question I posed in my man-on-the street-interviews was, “What is the greatest threat confronting mankind?”

In almost every interview, I was told the greatest threat was the human species.

Most troubling was an interview with a 12-year old girl who said she had been taught in school that global warming was real, that there were too many people on the planet, and that, based upon what she has learned at school, humans should not exist.

Her mom stood next to her, proudly looking on.

This is an example of what I write about in chapter six of Eco-Tyranny, entitled “Green Gospel.” What this girl has been aught is nothing less than green-child abuse.

I’ll be posting the video later this week—you won’t want to miss it.

The truth is, Earth Day has never been a celebration of the earth, instead, it’s always been an assault on mankind.

On this date in 1970, a trio of radical dreamers established the first Earth Day, an annual event designed to assault capitalism, free-markets and mankind.

The initial concept was conceived by Senator Gaylord Nelson (D-WS). Nelson was Congress’ leading environmentalist activist, a sort of pre-incarnate Senator Barbara Boxer in drag. He was also the mastermind behind those ridiculous teach-ins which were vogue in the Sixties and early Seventies. During the teach-ins, mutinous school instructors would scrap the day’s assigned curriculum, pressure their students to sit cross-legged on the floor, and “rap” about how America was an imperialist nation, and converse about why communism really wasn’t such a bad form of government—it just needed to be implemented properly.

Nelson’s teach-in efforts were aided by a young man named Denis Hayes. Hayes was student body president while at Stanford, and well known for organizing anti-Vietnam war protests. Hayes heard about Senator Nelson’s teach-in concept and eventually helped Nelson institute the practice nationwide.

Rounding out the troika was Professor Paul Ehrlich of Stanford. In 1968 Ehrlich authored the Malthusian missive, The Population Bomb, in which he infamously spouted wild allegations which included equating the earth’s supposed surplus of people with a cancer that needs to be eradicated: “A cancer is an uncontrolled multiplication of cells; the population explosion is an uncontrolled multiplication of people…We must shift our efforts from treatment of the symptoms to the cutting out of the cancer. The operation will demand many apparently brutal and heartless decisions,” he wrote.

In 1969, following a much-hyped oil spill off the Santa Barbara coast, an overblown patch of fire on Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River, and the drug-induced vibes cast across the nation via the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, Senator Nelson met with Ehrlich and reportedly said, “My God—why not a national teach-in on the environment?” Hayes was brought in to play a pivotal role with organization and implementation. After careful consideration a name and date for the event were chosen: the inaugural Earth Day would be celebrated April 22, 1970—Russian dictator Vladimir Lenin’s Centennial.

Environmentalists have always admired Lenin. He was the first disciple of Karl Marx to capture control of a country, and the opening act of his seven-year reign commenced with the abolition of all private property—a Marxist priority. Despite overseeing a bloody civil war, a devastated economy and a citizenry without hope, Lenin made it a priority to implement his signature decree, “On Land.” In it he declared that all forests, waters, and minerals to be the exclusive property of the state, and he demanded these resources be protected from use by the public and private enterprise. Selling timber or firewood, mining minerals, or diverting water for farming was strictly prohibited.

While Nelson and Ehrlich were already known as non-traditional crackpots, Hayes was that and more. In a New York Times article published the morning after the first Earth Day headlined, “Angry Coordinator of Earth Day,” young Hayes bragged that five years earlier he fled overseas because “I had to get away from America.” Hayes was so committed to his anti-capitalist cause that he made sure his organization did not even produce Earth Day bumper stickers, “You want to know why?” he explained to the Times, because “they go on automobiles.”

Earth Day has never been a celebration of the beauty and bounty of this awesome terrestrial ball. Instead it’s always been an assault on man. During the first decade of Earth Day observances people were proclaimed the polluter. By the Eighties the event’s organizers cast mankind as the tree killer, and, with the Nineties, humans evolved into the animal species annihilator. The global warming scare never really became popular until the late Nineties, and when it did, it provided compatriots at the Earth Day headquarters with the ultimate hook to hang their red berets: humans, particularly Americans, were now screwing up the entire planet’s climate.

Today, rather then join in the Marxist falderal designed to hammer the American way, let’s give thanks for our nation’s abundant resources and dedicate ourselves to electing leaders who will reclaim our natural capital from the stranglehold of regulations, policies and laws that are more in keeping with the tyranny of Marx than the liberty of Madison.

This article, by Brian Sussman, was also published at American Thinker:

A recent story at American Thinker revealed that an acclaimed environmental studies professor contends those who do not believe humans are causing global warming are mentally ill and need to be “treated.”

Keri Norgaard teaches at the University of Oregon and is the author of Living in Denial: Climate Change, Emotions and Everyday Life. In her book she compares global warming skepticism to racism, arguing that there is a “cultural resistance” that keeps some people from acknowledging that humans are responsible for global warming. This condition, she claims, “…must be recognized and treated” as an aberrant sociological behavior.

Norgaard also claims, “Climate change poses a massive threat to our present social, economic and political order. From a sociological perspective, resistance to change is to be expected.” She continues, saying, “This kind of cultural resistance to a very significant social threat is something that we would expect in any society facing a massive threat.”

Norgaard even goes so far as to say that such cultural resistance to accepting the theory of anthropogenic global warming is comparable to what happened when slavery was challenged in the Southern United States.

Norgaard has been making such radical pronouncements for years. In a 2009 interview with Wired magazine, she said, “Global warming…threatens the survival of our species,”

Translated, she’s saying that if we don’t do something, we’re all gonna die.

But Norgaard is not a lone voice of reckless eco-rhetoric. In fact, green scaremongering is a common practice amongst those in the environmental movement; and such comments have the potential to incite societal panic.

After the shooting of Arizona Congressional Representative Gabrielle Giffords there was a call to tone down the violent political rhetoric, which Democratic congressional members claimed was originating from the right.

Democratic National Committee Chairperson and Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz took to the cameras of CNN, stating, “Words matter.” She then reminded her fellow public servants that, “In terms of civility and tone we have to set an example.”

It’s too bad the congresswoman won’t have the same conversation with her friends in the environmental community. Let’s start at the top with an outlandish quote from Al Gore:

“Global warming, along with the cutting and burning of forests and other critical habitats, is causing the loss of living species at a level comparable to the extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. That event was believed to have been caused by a giant asteroid. This time it is not an asteroid colliding with the Earth and wreaking havoc: it is us.”

Let’s go next to Al’s friend, NASA director James Hansen.

“The climate is nearing tipping points,” he said in a 2009 opinion piece published in one of London’s most popular newspapers. “Changes are beginning to appear and there is a potential for explosive changes, effects that would be irreversible, if we do not rapidly slow fossil-fuel emissions over the next few decades.”

Hansen next describes the apocalyptic warning signs.
“As species are exterminated by shifting climate zones, ecosystems can collapse, destroying more species.”

Hansen then reveals the primary demon behind such environmental evil—coal.
“Coal is not only the largest fossil fuel reservoir of carbon dioxide, it is the dirtiest fuel. Coal is polluting the world’s oceans and streams with mercury, arsenic and other dangerous chemicals… The trains carrying coal to power plants are death trains. Coal-fired power plants are factories of death.

Folks, this is a director of NASA speaking. An irrational mind might just take this maniacal rhetoric to heart, and strap him—or her—to the train tracks in an attempt to halt such a “death train.”

NASA isn’t the only federal agency associated with climate scare mongering; the Environmental Protection Agency is also in on the game. Posted on the EPA’s website is a list of Frequently Asked Questions on global warming. In one response the agency declares, “Climate change health effects are especially serious for the very young, very old, or for those with heart and respiratory problems.”

Another EPA document states, “…climate change will likely increase the number of people suffering from illness and injury due to floods, storms, droughts, and fires, as well as allergies and infectious diseases.”

Quite frankly, we should be grateful more people don’t react to such wild comments the way a few have.

This is why we must be armed with the truth to confront the eco-lies that surround us, and make sure we elect people of good character into office, to repeal a host of legislation designed to replace American liberty, with eco-tyranny.

After 25 years of battling environmentalists, Star Wars filmmaker George Lucas has retreated from plans to construct a beautiful mission-style movie-making mansion on thousands of acres of land he owns in Marin County, California, twenty miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The people of Marin are proud of their liberalism and adherence to the green agenda. The community is extremely upscale and home to many rock stars and Hollywood-types. One would think the inhabitants of this hippie and yuppie paradise would be thrilled to have George Lucas’ business located in their backyard, but not so. His purposes, they contend, would disturb nature, and that’s a clear no-no in Marin.

Since 1995, a gaggle of rabid eco-interests have relentlessly attacked the billionaire film magnate, whose productions ushered in the digital arts age, over his plans for a production complex that would house Lucasfilm, Industrial Light and Magic, and LucasArts, all beneath one roof.

Initially Lucas wanted to build a 450,000 square foot facility, discreetly tucked away within the privacy of thousands of acres of his personal property. However, the greens immediately began holding him as an eco-hostage. In return for allowing his proposal to move forward Lucas would have to agree to restore creeks on his land and set aside 2,500 acres of open space (over the years Lucas has been pressured to preserve more than 5,000 acres of property in the region). Lucas generously agreed and the Marin County Board of Supervisors approved his project.

However, the penance the environmentalists wanted Lucas to pay was simply a green ruse. What they really desired was for the entire plan to be hurled into another galaxy far, far away.

At this point, Lucas cut a deal with San Francisco to use the former Presidio military base, overlooking the Golden Gate, to establish his world-renowned production facilities. He’s been there ever since, but in the meantime, continued to work on building a state-of-the-art campus on his land in Marin.

Finally, two weeks ago, the county Supervisors gave the Star Wars creator the thumbs up to build his dream complex, though it’s size was to be reduced by nearly half and another green deed would have to be carried out by Lucas: fund a county-wide climate change action agenda. Lucas was ready to close the deal, when officials moved to provide the opposition one last opportunity to state their case as to why the project should not be allowed.

When the eco-warriors showed up at the County Hall with lawyers and reams of paperwork last week, George Lucas decided to finally surrender.

“We have several opportunities to build the production stages in communities that see us as a creative asset, not as an evil empire,” stated a letter from George Lucas’ property company. “The residents [surrounding the property] have fought this project for 25 years, and enough is enough. Marin is a bedroom community and is committed to building subdivisions, not business.”

However, before withdrawing, Lucas unfurled his light saber one last time, shocking everyone into reality; the letter continued, “The land will revert back to its original use for residential housing. We hope we will be able to find a developer who will be interested in low income housing since it is scarce in Marin.”

Touché.

Lucas’s story illustrates an important fact: the environmentalists are incredibly longsuffering when it comes to undermining personal property rights which—like Marx and Engels—is the number one goal of their agenda. Once they have selected a target, they will unrelentingly wear out those involved through, protests, lawsuits, and green blackmail schemes. Their plans and purposes are not in keeping with liberty, but instead, with eco-tyranny.

George Lucas is their latest victim.

While the “mainstream” media is quick to spew out that the “majority of scientists believe in anthropogenic climate change,” (even though that percentage was garnered from a mysterious poll of only 77 people), it’s interesting to note how they have not covered this story: a number of significant NASA scientists, including seven astronauts, have publically stated in a letter to NASA’s administrator, that they are not fans of the man-caused global warming theory, and they would like NASA to quit wasting government money hyping the scam.

NASA is an agency that has been infiltrated by many eco-activists committed to tyranny. Look no further than James Hansen, the director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS). Hansen is the man who literally is charged with monitoring the earth’s temperature, and, as I explain in Eco-Tyranny, he is a rabid environmentalist who delights in using apocalyptic language to scare the wits out of young people. ”There is a potential for explosive changes, effects that would be irreversable, if we do not rapidly slow fossil fuel emissions over the next few decades,” Hansen says (I have even crazier quotes from this man in my book).

Such language is inexcusable from a government official–particularly when the blowhard doing the talking is holding the thermometer under the tongue of mother earth. But again, we’re dealing with eco-tyranny.

My friend, Thomas Lifson, was the first to post the letter from the NASA scientists, at his American Thinker blog:

March 28, 2012

The Honorable Charles Hardin Jr.
NASA Administrator
NASA Headquarters
Washington, D.C. 20546-0001

Dear Charlie,

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.

The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements.

As former NASA employees, we feel that NASA’s advocacy of an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate. We request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject. At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself.

For additional information regarding the science behind our concern, we recommend that you contact Harrison Schmitt or Walter Cunningham, or others they can recommend to you.

Thank you for considering this request.

Sincerely,
