As threats from North Korea continue to make headlines, Secretary of State John Kerry says human-caused global warming is a top international security threat.

Kerry made the outlandish claim while visiting South Korea, Tokyo, and Beijing on his first major mission as Obama’s chief foreign diplomat.

“We are seeing the science of climate change come back to us now at a rate that is far faster and with far greater levels of damage than anything that scientists predicted 10, 15, 20 years ago,” Kerry stated during a speech in China. “Every prediction that has been made is coming true, but coming true bigger and more dangerously.”

A State Department release on Kerry’s talk in China also highlighted the global warming science-is-settled claim.

Whatta bunch of idiots.

Of course we’ve known the truth about John Kerry for years. He’s the jack wagon who lied about our troops in Vietnam, who parked his yacht in Rhode Island to avoid Massachusetts taxes, and has been known to fly his barber in on a Gulfstream V for a $1,000 trim (hey, it probably takes quite awhile to trim a head that large).

Now the truth about climate: there has been NO global warming since 1994, despite all of the unreliable computer models the greenies have used to tell us otherwise. In fact there is ample evidence to lead us to theorize we’re headed into a major global cool down, perhaps like the one we experienced between 1940-1975, but hopefully not like the one the brought about a global mini-Ice Age between 1350-1850.

You would expect to hear this fro me, after all I wrote, Climategate: a Veteran Meteorologist Exposes the Global Warming Scam, and Eco-Tyranny: How the Left’s Green Agenda Will Dismantle America. However, it’s not just me. An April 16th article from the Reuters news service states:

“Scientists are struggling to explain a slowdown in climate change that has exposed gaps in their understanding and defies a rise in global greenhouse gas emissions.”

Even the United Nations is wondering how their predictions of climate catastrophe could have been so wrong.

Undaunted, by pushing this failed climate agenda Kerry is toting the water for communist and socialist ideologues who have been using eco-scare tactics to destroy capitalism and free markets for decades.

In addition the truth must be known about Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, who leads the ultra-liberal Heinz Foundation. In 2001, the Heinz Foundation “awarded” James Hansen $250,000 for his work on global warming. Hanson is the NASA director who’s been in charge of monitoring the earth’s temperature since the Eighties. Under his watch most of the world’s thermometers have been put into service, with hundreds of thermometers formerly relied upon in colder locations (Canada, Siberia, the Andes, etc.) being scratched from the record.

It also should be no surprise that Hansen endorsed Kerry for President in 2004—the quarter of million dollars was practically a paid endorsement. Likely the money also provided Hanson with the encouragement to continue cranking out bad data for the green cause.

However, try as Hanson and other might, the truth is out: the theory of anthropogenic global warming is now in the trash heap of other failed predictions. The problem is leftists like Kerry never worry about the truth getting in the way of their reckless agenda.

On this date in 1970, a trio of radical dreamers established the first Earth Day, an annual event designed to assault capitalism, free-markets and mankind.

The initial concept was conceived by Senator Gaylord Nelson (D-WS). Nelson was Congress’ leading environmentalist activist, a sort of pre-incarnate Senator Barbara Boxer in drag. He was also the mastermind behind those ridiculous teach-ins which were vogue in the Sixties and early Seventies. During the teach-ins, mutinous school instructors would scrap the day’s assigned curriculum, pressure their students to sit cross-legged on the floor, and “rap” about how America was an imperialist nation, and converse about why communism really wasn’t such a bad form of government—it just needed to be implemented properly.

Nelson’s teach-in efforts were aided by a young man named Denis Hayes. Hayes was student body president while at Stanford, and well known for organizing anti-Vietnam war protests. Hayes heard about Senator Nelson’s teach-in concept and eventually helped Nelson institute the practice nationwide.

Rounding out the troika was Professor Paul Ehrlich of Stanford. In 1968 Ehrlich authored the Malthusian missive, The Population Bomb, in which he infamously spouted wild allegations which included equating the earth’s supposed surplus of people with a cancer that needs to be eradicated: “A cancer is an uncontrolled multiplication of cells; the population explosion is an uncontrolled multiplication of people…We must shift our efforts from treatment of the symptoms to the cutting out of the cancer. The operation will demand many apparently brutal and heartless decisions,” he wrote.

In 1969, following a much-hyped oil spill off the Santa Barbara coast, an overblown patch of fire on Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River, and the drug-induced vibes cast across the nation via the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, Senator Nelson met with Ehrlich and reportedly said, “My God—why not a national teach-in on the environment?” Hayes was brought in to play a pivotal role with organization and implementation. After careful consideration a name and date for the event were chosen: the inaugural Earth Day would be celebrated April 22, 1970—Russian dictator Vladimir Lenin’s Centennial.

Environmentalists have always admired Lenin. He was the first disciple of Karl Marx to capture control of a country, and the opening act of his seven-year reign commenced with the abolition of all private property—a Marxist priority. Despite overseeing a bloody civil war, a devastated economy and a citizenry without hope, Lenin made it a priority to implement his signature decree, “On Land.” In it he declared that all forests, waters, and minerals to be the exclusive property of the state, and he demanded these resources be protected from use by the public and private enterprise. Selling timber or firewood, mining minerals, or diverting water for farming was strictly prohibited.

While Nelson and Ehrlich were already known as non-traditional crackpots, Hayes was that and more. In a New York Times article published the morning after the first Earth Day headlined, “Angry Coordinator of Earth Day,” young Hayes bragged that five years earlier he fled overseas because “I had to get away from America.” Hayes was so committed to his anti-capitalist cause that he made sure his organization did not even produce Earth Day bumper stickers, “You want to know why?” he explained to the Times, because “they go on automobiles.”

Earth Day has never been a celebration of the beauty and bounty of this awesome terrestrial ball. Instead it’s always been an assault on man. During the first decade of Earth Day observances people were proclaimed the polluter. By the Eighties the event’s organizers cast mankind as the tree killer, and, with the Nineties, humans evolved into the animal species annihilator. The global warming scare never really became popular until the late Nineties, and when it did, it provided compatriots at the Earth Day headquarters with the ultimate hook to hang their red berets: humans, particularly Americans, were now screwing up the entire planet’s climate.

Today, rather then join in the Marxist falderal designed to hammer the American way, let’s give thanks for our nation’s abundant resources and dedicate ourselves to electing leaders who will reclaim our natural capital from the stranglehold of regulations, policies and laws that are more in keeping with the tyranny of Marx than the liberty of Madison.

For the past nine years a group of eco-idiots has talked millions of fools into turning off all their lights—at night—to celebrate the Earth Hour. According to the event’s sponsor, the World Wildlife Fund, the goal is, “Uniting people to protect the planet” from human caused climate change.

The World Wildlife Fund is an organization that deceptively uses phony ecological scares and junk science to assail property rights and capitalism. This year’s Earth Hour is at 8:30 local time, Saturday night. According to the event’s coordinators millions of people from over 7,000 cities worldwide acknowledged the happening by switching their “lights off for an hour as a massive show of concern for the environment.”

I’d like to see the police blotters in those cities on Sunday. Criminals are a lot like cockroaches—they prefer coming out when it’s dark. If any bad guys were paying attention the Earth Hour may have provided them with a golden opportunity.

The hypocrisy of this event is laughable. China is one of the host countries. Half of the people in that nation don’t even have a light to turn off at night. Nonetheless the former Olympic Stadium will turn off its lights for 60 minutes—like that will make up for the horrendous Beijing pollution. It’s so bad the Chinese are said to be chipping teeth when they breathe in because of the large chunks of particulate matter.

Earlier this week I asked my radio audience call in to tell me how they were going to celebrate Earth Hour. Even though I broadcast from San Francisco my listeners include the lion’s share of people with a brain in their head in this area, so the answers were pretty darn good.

“Brian,” Jimmy called in to say, “I’m turning every dang light and all three of my big screen TVs on, plus I’m going to blast a space heater in every room and when it gets too damn hot my air-conditioner will kick in to try cool the place down.”

Frank got on the air to say, “I’m breaking out the Christmas lights like it’s December. They’ll all be on at 8:30, plus I’m firing up my F-250 and my Ford Mustang, with the headlights on, to just let ‘em idle in the driveway.”

If you want a real treat listen to the interview I conducted with the official Earth Hour representative. The poor little eco-socialist didn’t know what hit her. You can listen to it here

The only thing environmentalists like about the oil industry is that it provides their Prius hybrids with gasoline. Other than that these nature nuts hate every aspect of the business sector they refer to as, “Big Oil.”

Now here’s the story. Out in the Gulf of Mexico there are hundreds of oilrigs that are no longer in service. At the demand of environmentalists, laws have been created to remove the rigs, which are considered ecological hazards.

Tell that to the sea life. Underwater cameras have determined that old rigs become artificial reefs with rich coral habitats that are teeming with fish and other sea creatures. But that means nothing to the greenies. They contend that the rigs are unnatural, even though the environment has neatly adapted to the manmade structures. And, with the help of the Obama administration, the waters of the Gulf have become a demolition derby with oilrigs being dynamited two or three times per week. Team Obama refers to this two-year old demo-program as, “Operation Idle Iron.”

Many fishermen in the Gulf have been complaining about this government operation. They report seeing dead fish floating in the waters near a just-demolished rig, but the media generally ignores their claims. However someone with a video camera decided to capture a demolition in action and presented their find to WPMI-TV, Channel 15, in Mobile, Alabama. The video reveals that, following the KABOOM, thousands of dead snapper are seen floating on the water’s surface.

“Good Lord,” marine scientist Dr. Bob Shipp told the television station after seeing video. “As a scientist, I think it’s abominable.”

Shipp sits on the Gulf Fisheries Management Council and has been a strong opponent of the demolitions.

“It’s a double whammy,” Shipp said, “Not only are we killing a lot of snapper, but we’re also destroying their habitat.”

The killing of the red snapper is also infuriating charter boat captains and anglers. Federal restrictions keep cutting the red snapper season shorter and quotas smaller to protect the species from over-fishing.

“They tell us not to fish [red snapper] but they’re blowing them up,” charter boat Captain Jason Domange told Channel 15, “It’s a cryin’ shame.”

The confidential source who provided the video estimated 10,000 pounds of fish, mostly red snapper, were killed after that one demolition

”That’s a year’s salary for a lot of people and that’s just going to waste,” Domange said.

Dr. Shipp said the killing of red snapper has both environmental and economical ramifications.

Snapper is one of the most valuable fish species in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s fish that brings in a lot of tourism, and is valuable to the food industry.

Before Domange was a charter boat captain, he worked on oil and gas rigs and has seen plenty of demolitions and subsequent fish kills. He told WPMI that the kills are usually supposes to remain, “Hush, hush, unsaid, and unseen.”

This issue is not going unnoticed by some right-minded members of Congress. They’re trying to get Team Obama to curtail Operation Idle Iron immediately. The problem is Obama is a strident, radical environmentalist, as illustrated in his handpicked Science and Technology advisor, John Holdren. Holdren once said, “We must de-develop North America.”

Unless Congress is able to act, stopping Operation Idle Iron will be like trying to halt a liberal from overspending.

Just in time for the Super Bowl! These ribs are delicious and easy to fix! Plus, because a barbecue is required complete with beautiful billowing clouds of carbon dioxide, you’ll drive the environmentalists crazy! Each time I published this recipe I receive excellent reviews from all over the world, including lots of folks in Texas and the Southern U.S.–that’s a huge compliment because those patriots know their barbecue.

Here’s the recipe:

Sussman’s World Famous Patriot Ribs

Cover both sides of the baby back ribs with BBQ rib rub of choice (I prefer Kirkland’s Sweet Mesquite BBQ Rub, but if you have a favorite use it!). By the way, St. Louis pork ribs work just as well as the baby backs. If you like to trim off the membrane that’s fine, but this recipe will make the final product tender-licious either way. I can’t guarantee this recipe for beef ribs.

Place ribs (meat side up) in a ceramic or glass baking pan.

Pour a nice stout beer (I prefer Guinness Stout)) into the pan, just about an inch deep. DO NOT try this with anything other than a dark stout beer, the ribs will be ruined.

Cover with aluminum foil. Let sit for an hour.

Preheat oven to 325. Bake the ribs (in the pan, with the beer, covered with foil) for two and a half hours.

Next, turn off the oven. Let the ribs remain in the closed oven for another hour.

Fire up your BBQ and get that grill hot. This is “show time.” All we’re doing here is putting some grill marks on the meat. I usually do about three minutes on the bone side, and then three on the meat side. While the bone side is up, I slather on my favorite BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Rays is a big winner in my household). When I turn the ribs over, I slather more sauce on the meat side. Make sure the meat side has some distinct grill marks—it looks and tastes much better.

Next, get those ribs off the grill and onto serving plate. Make sure there is ample sauce covering every part of the meat.

One final note: place a roll of paper towels on the dinner table–you’ll need ‘em.

Enjoy!

Brian

This week American’s were hit with a whirlwind of misinformation and outright lies about the state of the climate. Bogus headlines from January 9 included:

“2012 was the hottest year ever recorded,” nationally syndicated liberal talk show host Thom Hartman.

“2012 was the hottest year in the U.S.” New York Times.

“2012 was the warmest year ever for the United States and the most extreme,” NBC News.

The headlines were derived from a press release issued by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) stating 2012 “was the warmest year in the 1895-2012 period of record for the nation.” NOAA’s data included only the lower 48 states.

Here’s why NOAA and the media outlets that blindly parrot theses claims are dead wrong: the 1930s brought the U.S. it’s hottest temperatures on record—period.

As I explain in my bestseller, Climategate, in the Thirties, twenty-two of our now 50 states recording their highest temperature ever, with the hottest year on record being 1934.

Examples include 1100 in Millsboro, Delaware on July 21, 1930; 118 0 at Keokuk, Iowa on July 20, 1942; and Steele, North Dakota reaching 1210 on July 6, 1936.

By the way, thirty-eight states recorded their all-time highs before 1960.

The U.S. has maintained the most complete, widespread, long-standing, uninterrupted set of temperature records on the planet and these records should not be taken lightly. If we were to only look at the temperature records from those same measuring stations that were used in the 1930s we would discover that there was nothing unusually hot about 2012. In fact, one would notice a net cooling since the Thirties!

The problem is the temperature record has been rigged to read warm. The leftist masterminds charged with taking the earth’s temperature are using significantly less data—or even estimating data—from cold places like Canada and Siberia. They’re also relying on more temperatures from thermometers placed in highly urbanized (artificially warmer) locations, with most of these thermometers having been placed since the late 1980s! Overall, global temperatures are being skewed upward. That’s exactly what NOAA did again this year.

As an aside, if NOAA relied solely on their satellite data, which accurately covers the entire planet, they would have to report that 2012’s temperatures are not unique.

One more fact: even iconic global warmist Phil Jones, head of the defamed UK Climate Research Unit, has admitted there has been no statistically significant warming since 1995.

The bottom line is our global temperature databases have been deliberately manipulated, and the people crunching the numbers so tilted politically to the left, that climate trends and annual rankings can no longer be presumed accurate.

As a guy who has dedicated a significant part of his life to uncovering environmental scams, naming this year’s Truth Teller is a no-brainer for me. The winner is the man who just brought down the head of Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency: Christopher Horner.

Chris is a skilled lawyer and a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. About a decade ago he wrote, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming, which caused liberal heads to explode. This year he penned, The Liberal War on Transparancy, a book detailing how the Obama administration’s claim of being “the most transparaent” in history is pure hog washed propaganda.

In his book Horner specifically reveals how the EPA’s adminisrator, Lisa Jackson, was conducting official business utilizing a non-government email account under the alias “Richard Windsor.” That’s a big no-no.

“That is just one of the alias names used by Obama’s radical EPA chief to keep her emails from those who ask for it,” Horner told me.

Horner’s investigation soon got the attention of Congress. “Two full committees and one investigative subcommittee of the House of Representatives have asked several federal agencies, including EPA and the White House,” Horner said in a press release, adding that the Department of Justice acknowledged “12,000 emails from Lisa Jackson’s ‘secondary’ email account that discuss the Obama administration’s war on coal, in response to litigation we have filed over this practice.”

Apparently the revelation of this scandal got to Jackson as she quietly resigned just after Christmas. In a statement she said, “So, I will leave the EPA confident the ship is sailing in the right direction, and ready in my own life for new challenges, time with my family and new opportunities to make a difference.”

Whenever they unexpectedly resign from a high level government post to spend “time with my family,” you know there’s more to the story.

“Life’s full of coincidences, but this is too many,” Competitive Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow Chris Horner told FoxNews.com. “She had no choice.”

Chris Horner, Truth Teller of the Year, will be on my radio show Wednesday morning to discuss this fascinating story.

By Brian Sussman

The “king tide.” It’s a naturally occurring, predictable event caused by the combined effects of gravitational forces exerted by the moon, the sun and the rotation of the earth which manifest in the local rise and fall of sea levels. On Thursday those combined effects will align to create the most exaggerated tides of the year, and eco-activists and their media accomplices are seizing the opportunity to warn of human-caused climate change.

“If you head down the beach this week or wander along the edges of San Francisco Bay,” says San Jose Mercury News environmental reporter Paul Rodgers, “you may just be witnessing California’s future. The ocean is getting closer.”

King tides occur several times a year, but this week’s are the biggest of 2012, rising several feet higher than average tides. Environmentalists are using the event as a disingenuous teaching tool to make the public believe that the use of fossil fuels is warming the atmosphere, melting the glaciers and polar ice caps, and forcing the oceans to irreversibly rise to dangerous levels.

“You can read something, but when you see it firsthand, it’s more powerful,” Gary Griggs, director of the Institute of Marine Sciences at UC Santa Cruz, told the Mercury News. Griggs, an outspoken believer in anthropogenic global warming, says, “When you see a place you know, when you see a king tide and say, wow, it’s six inches from the San Francisco International Airport runway, you realize this is real. It’s not just a model.”

Phil Watson, a coastal specialist with Australia’s Office of Environment and Heritage, says the tide will come close to the upper range of climate change predictions for the sea level rise by the end of this century. “So a king tide today is going to be very close to mean sea level by 2100,” he told Australia’s ABC News.

The question is, are the oceans really rising because of global warming?

In a word, no.

Ever since the end of the last Ice Age, global sea level has been gradually increasing. The melting ice and snow from that bitterly cold event is continually trickling into our great oceans and seas. According to the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fourth Assessment from 2007, over the past 20,000 years sea level has increased nearly 400 feet and over the past century the average sea level raised a mere 1.8 millimeters per year. Try placing your thumb as close to your forefinger as possible, without the two touching—that’s the amount of sea level rise each year.

Hardly frightening.

But now the environmentalists are wildly claiming that by 2100 that rate of increase will accelerate and the oceans will rise “16.5 inches to 65 inches by 2100,” as reported by the Mercury News.

A forecast like that would get your local TV weatherman fired. “The high temperature tomorrow will be anywhere from 16 degrees to 65 degrees. Back to you, Bill and Kathy.”

The only thing worrisome about the king tide is if it’s appearance coincides with a storm; the associated wind-driven waves could wreak havoc.

Otherwise, if you live along the coast, take a look, snap a photo, and marvel at the wonders of nature.
