You are reading what may be my final post on the Climategate website. While I will continue to publish the work of others committed to battling the eco-tyrannists here, I have have been struck with a change of purpose as I will explain.
But first a brief stroll down memory lane.
I left a lucrative television meteorologist position with the CBS station in San Francisco (KPIX) in early 2001. I was in the middle of a secure contract, making nearly a half million dollars a year, and was “living the dream” when I approached my boss asking to be released from my contract. My wife and I were just about to adopt another child (we already had three kids) and because of my work hours my beautiful wife was practically a single mom. I needed to be home more, especially in the evenings, to be with the family. Leaving TV after over twenty years in the business was actually not a difficult decision. I had become increasingly frustrated with the newsroom’s swelling politically correct editorial viewpoint, and I was tired of arguing with my colleagues over the topic of global warming.
After amicably departing KPIX I dreamed of getting into talk radio and explored the possibility with just about every station in San Francisco, but there were no takers. In the meantime my wife and I launched several franchise businesses on the Bay Area’s Peninsula to make ends meet.
My talk radio break occurred on September 11, 2001. Following the Islamic terrorist attacks a San Francisco’s Christian radio station called me stating that their afternoon talk host was stranded at an out of town airport and was going to have to miss his show. The General Manger of KFAX asked if I would fill in and of course I said, “Yes.”
The show went smoothly. My first guest was bestselling author Ann Coulter. Ann was calling from Manhattan and was quite shaken by the day’s events. I actually had the privilege to pray with her live on the radio.
Long story short, that opportunity on KFAX eventually led to my own show on KSFO, the top talk station in San Francisco, in 2002. I’ve been there ever since.
In 2010 my book, Climategate: A Veteran Meteorologist Exposes the Global Warming Scam was published by WND Books. Sean Hannity had me as a guest on his Fox News television program to debut the book. Climategate became an overnight bestseller. Several people in Washington have told me that the book was used as a resource for members of Congress in their successful effort to stop Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Harry Reid from advancing Cap and Trade legislation.
In 2012 I released a second book, Eco-Tyranny: How the Left’s Green Agenda Will Dismantle America. The book included a cover endorsement from Sen. James Inhofe.
So with all this success, why might this be my final post?
Because the battle for which I was called has been won. The earth’s atmosphere has not warmed since the 1990s. We’re currently into a cooling phase. The facts are the facts. All we have now is a pathetic war of words being spewed forth by radical environmentalists and their cohorts in academia and politics. Their ultimate agenda is to hammer capitalism, employ degrees of socialism, and advance a secular humanist ideology. They truly want to fundamentally transform this country—and they’re doing it.
Even though I am no longer speaking about global warming publicly, and will most certainly be limiting my writing on the topic, I will continue to address the issue on the radio when the daily news flow demands it. However, the bulk of my passion will be used to communicate the only answer to what ails truly America: the desperate need for a spiritual awakening.
I won’t bore you with the details of my personal journey but many years ago I witnessed a series of awful tragedies that led me on a quest for answers. My search led me to a statement made by Jesus. It remains either the dumbest thing anyone has ever said or the most profound.
In an exchange found in the 14th chapter of the Bible’s book known as John, Jesus tells the man history refers to as Doubting Thomas, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
In saying this, Jesus makes himself out to either be a liar, a lunatic, or the only way to Heaven. I am convinced He is the latter.
Do I live a perfect life? No. But thankfully Jesus doesn’t call perfect people to follow him. If I really believe that Jesus is the only way, then I must devote myself to a perfect God who is in the business of changing hearts and lives.
Friends, our country is in trouble. Political battles, while often times quite valuable, will not save us. The only hope for this nation is the promised Messiah, Jesus.
You see for the last several years I’ve been meeting one on one with a variety of people who are great need. Some have experienced indescribable loss. Others have plenty of material possessions and yet are empty inside. Some wrestle with addiction. They’re from dysfunctional families; they’re lonely, bummed out, worn out, out of work, and unloved. Some are Republicans, some Democrats, and some don’t give a damn. But they all need what I know to be true: that there is a God in Heaven who loves them, is for them, and can replace their emptiness with joy. These folks do not represent an anomalous minority. Sadly they are a growing majority and they need to be reached and returned to wholeness.
I’ll continue to talk about and comment on the issues of the day each day on KSFO (as long as they’ll have me) and I’ll use my Facebook and Twitter accounts for the same. However, I don’t plan on updating this website nor my Eco-Tyranny site with original content. By the way, both of my books remain on sale. Both of them are excellent truth-telling reads.
I respectfully leave you with this, a quote from the Bible that has really spoken to my heart and places my personal future into perspective:
“And do this, understanding the present time: the hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
St. Paul, the book of Romans, chapter 13, verses 11 and 12.
